Rancho Zabaco Zinfandel

This wine was recommended by Harris Teeter's wine news letter. Didn't know much about zinfandel so I looked on the Wikipedia. Lots of fruit green grapes, peaches, cherries. No oak nice finish lingers sweetly but not cloying on the tongue.
The web site calls this a BIG wine and that's not far off. It delivers a lot of flavor up front, not overwhelming but not particlularly subtle either.
About $12.
  • Will buy again but not too often.
Might try it for a cookout with burgers. Might also make a good wine cooler or sangria.

Rancho Zabaco has received consistent accolades and is a great wine for the money. They have a couple different tiers, each trading spaces as the one to buy depending on the vintage.
Zinfandels, what a great varietal to taste since they have so many ways to go in their flavor profile, just like pinot noir's many faces.
As far as what it tastes like, can't remember, I'll have to revisit, that's what is great about wine, loss of memory is a positive thing, Later B.

Zin, although now known to be the same grape (DNA-wise) as Primitivo in Italy is considered to be one of two American specialties in the vinifera family (the other being Petite Syrah). It is usually full on and blod, and Rancho Zabaco is a great and affordable example.
